I Digress

Several times, with several different people, I have had these long conversations about growing/being old together. Sometimes these talks are silly - Will you change my diapers when I’m 90? - sometimes they are less so. These discussions always have at their core, though, the same ideas. This other person and I will be together in our old age - not romantically so, just companions in those final years. I’ve always enjoyed these conversations, but I’ve never given a lot of thought as to why. I think it is because, whether silly or serious, we are comforting each other, reassuring each other. You won’t be alone. I will be there with you. You are not alone.
